NTD Labs new U.S.A headquarters. It is the only lab in the country that provides first trimester Down syndrome screening with free Beta hCG, consistent with Evidence Based Medicine.
NTD Labs, a PerkinElmer company, has moved into a new clinical laboratory with greater capacity to handle rapidly increasing demand for its advanced screening services for Down syndrome and neural tube defects.
NTD Labs holds a New York State Department of Health Clinical Laboratory Permit and is CLIA-Certified. The new 22,000 square-foot facility will house, R&D labs, maternal sample bank, administrative offices, and other assets that support the proliferation of Evidence Based Medicine and better prenatal care throughout the U.S.A and worldwide. This new facility will also accommodate further expansion plans in Maternal-Child Health.

John Sherwin is a board certified doctoral clinical scientist with more than 25 years of experience. He holds licenses in both California and New York. Dr. Sherwin has more than 50 scientific publications. For many years he was director of Chemistry and Toxicology at Valley Children’s Hospital. He has held positions as senior technical director, general manager, and chief operating officer of multimillion-dollar reference laboratories. During his career he has also been a consultant to a variety of businesses and physician practices. He is a past president of both the American Association for Clinical Chemistry and the National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry, and is a past Board member of both. He has been active in pediatric laboratory medicine throughout his career. He has just left the State of California where he was Chief, Genetic Disease Laboratories which are responsible for the prenatal and newborn screening testing programs of the State of California as well as Acting Chief of the entire Genetic Screening Program of the State of California.
